Fall News
In October, I received an Emmy for my work on a PSA for Gateway 180, and the Cardinals won the World Series.
In November, “My Best Wand” won Best Local Short and Best Short Short at the St. Louis International Film Festival. I also went to Disney World.

Official Selection
My 35-second-long short My Best Wand has been selected to screen at the Three Minute Film Fest!
According to their Facebook page, “With a max of 40 films making up our program, we can only let in about 10% of what we receive.” It seems to be pretty exclusive, which is very exciting! The short is also now on IMDb.

Oprah watched my Vimeo link.
I recently worked on a “pitch trailer” for a new reality show concept called Welcome to Sweetie Pies, with my company’s new division Coolfire Originals. Through a few connections, the trailer made it to Oprah Winfrey, who snatched the show up for her new network. Pretty exciting! Read the press release here.
A screenshot from the trailer. Not sure when I can post the whole...

Pujols Family Foundation
I recently got to edit some videos for Albert Pujols’ charity’s Christmas fundraiser banquet. The event was held Saturday night where the videos were shown to over 700 people at the Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis.

Lost
Earlier this year, my friend Daniel Hoover put on a huge party for the premiere of the final season of Lost. It was partially because he’s a nerd, but also because of a call for footage for the Lost Complete Collection Blu-Ray/DVD. I filmed the party, Hoover submitted the footage, and Tuesday night, we finally got to see if our work made the cut.
Look for “Missouri USA.”...

Field Seats
My dad scored some amazing tickets for yesterday’s Rams game. They added a row of 22 seats in front of the front row, five yards from the end zone. Great view… and a great game!
I took some pictures with my phone…

Sherlock
Tonight I watched the first 90-minute episode of Sherlock, the new British mini-series airing State-side for three weeks on PBS. Though it may not be a totally fair comparison, I’d say Sherlock blows the recent Sherlock Holmes movie out of the water (the former takes place in modern times while the latter is in the 1800s). The bizzare Benedict Cumberbatch plays an incredibly fast-thinking,...

Fontbonne University
This past week, I helped with a commercial shoot for Fontbonne University, a school in St. Louis. Our 10-person crew shot for three days in numerous locations around the campus and downtown St. Louis. I was responsible for data management (footage shot on 5D Mark II), as well as taking pictures that will be used in print advertising and publications. Here are some of the shots, including some...

1/10th of an Emmy
Tonight I attended the Mid-America Emmys where my company was nominated in four different categories. We ended up winning three of the four including “Community/Public Service (PSAs)” for our St. Louis International Film Festival promo that I helped make. In fact, 10 of us had a hand in creating the various scenes in the video… hence the name:
Mike Rohlfing + Mike Kuhn + John...

Three Dimensions
We have a big company party coming up… and our parties have become exceedingly elaborate. For this next Halloween-themed extravaganza we’ve rented out a downtown theater, have booked two Grammy-nominated performers, and are creating 3D visuals to accompany the show.
We had a crew in the office shooting various 3D elements today. They used a James Cameron-like rig holding two Sony...

What I Watched This Week - Devil
Last November I started producing a little online show called “What I Watched This Week.” I managed to finish six episodes and then got tired of it. A few people have been hounding me to start it up again (and I’ve always kind of wanted to), so I gave it another go this past weekend with a special mini episode.

Drip
This past week at work I got to work on a commercial for a new “haunted experience” in town. I directed, shot, and edited a 30-second spot for “Drip” which stars my brother David and his friend Avery Anderson.
Equipment: Canon 5D Mark II at 1080p30, 50mm 1.4 lens, H4N Zoom Recorder with shotgun mic, Various flashlights
The spot took about four hours to shoot,...
